Here is Step by Step guide to install Backtrack on VMware :
Install the VM Ware and open it.
Select Typical installation.
Browse for downloaded ISO image of backtrack and give it's path from your system.
Select guest operating system as "Linux" and click next.
Click on finish now.
Now backtrack in installed !
To start GUI in backtrack type : startx
Default username : root
Default password : toor
